Indian Rocks Beach Family Beach Portraits Winter Holidays

The winter holidays can be some of my busiest weeks photographing families at the beach. I was thrilled see this family’s more formal attire at the beach and it fits in perfectly especially during the cooler sunsets in winter. I especially love the rich burgundy fabric tones of velvet and chiffon paired with navy. The bowtie on this little guy is probably one of the cutest I have ever seen!

Anna Maria Senior Photos at Bean Point

When clients staying on Anna Maria Island Florida contact me for portraits, I always suggest Bean Point Beach for a location. I love the magical dunes filled with sea oates and sea grape. The clouds rolled in for this senior portrait session, and at sunset we were rewarded with a magical sun burst!

Tradewinds Resort St Pete Beach Family Beach Photos in Blue +White + Tan

What to Wear to Your Family Beach Portrait Photo Session; Blues, Whites & Khaki Tans. My clients were vacationing at Tradewinds Island Grand Resort in St Pete Beach and booked a family beach portrait session. I selected Treasure Island Beach for their sunset session to allow their active boys some room to explore and play at the beach. This session reminded me that little boys do not stand or sit still, so it is my job to keep them busy and moving! The day was very overcast with no remarkable sunset. However, I really like overcast directional natural light portraits and at sunset the moody blue cloudy skies complimented this family’s attire.

Sunset Vistas Beachfront Suites Treasure Island Florida Wedding

Wow! We had a blast photographing this destination wedding at Sunset Vistas Beachfront Suites in Treasure Island Florida, even with a few raindrops. Bad weather can help create some amazing photos. When the skies opened up with a rainstorm late in the afternoon for this Florida Beach wedding, the staff at Sunset Vistas quickly relocated this couple’s ceremony location to under cover in the courtyard. When the rain slowed up, we were able to photograph the couple with their guests in the beautiful tropical courtyard at Sunset Vistas. When we were certain the rain and lighting had paused, we raced to the beach at sunset for some dramatic portraits of the happy couple. The rain created some beach puddles, which we used to our advantage in capturing some dramatic beach reflection portraits. At first the cloudy skies photographed as a beautiful intense blue, and about 20 minutes after sunset we were treated to soft pink skies! We have learned time and time again to keep photographing after sunset at the beach, because the skies can develop with gorgeous colors, even on a rainy day!

Treasure Island Florida Beach Large Family Portraits at Sunset

After taking a break from blogging our portrait over the holidays, I’m happy to showcase this winter Florida beach portrait session in Treasure Island. We have experienced a mild winter, with Christmas Day and New Years reaching 80 degrees F. For this family portrait session, the skies were a overcast which created a nice minimalist background in shades of grays and blues. Even though Florida is known as the Sunshine State, as a photographer I can appreciate good cloud covered natural light. As the session progressed towards sunset, we added fill light to these portraits from 2 SaberStrips connected to a boom stand with super clamps. I really like when we add a little bit of fill light and keep our ambient bright with not too dramatic of a lighting ratio.

St Petersburg FL Senior Portrait Photos at Treasure Island Beach Sunset Vistas Beachfront Suites

My clients vacation twice a year at Sunset Vistas Beachfront Suites and hired me to photograph their daughter’s photos for her high school senior portraits. I photographed this senior beach session on a beautiful November evening, with perfect clouds and a little bit of wind to add some drama! The sand at treasure Island beach had formed into ripples, so I took advantage of the effect and shot some early strobist portraits in bright daylight with two Saberstrips. I love mixing natural light portraits with strobist shots at the beach; it truly provides two different looks. As much as I love photographing clients in natural light, some of my favorite images from this session are lit by two flashes inside two SaberStrips horizontal above my client.

Belleair Beach Florida Wedding at Sunset

My clients contacted me to photograph their intimate wedding celebration in Belleair Beach Florida. On a beautiful warm fall afternoon, they gathered 60 of their closest friends and family to witness one of the most heartfelt wedding ceremonies that I have had the pleasure of photographing. My clients have been a couple for nine years, mother’s to twin boys for seven and on a warm October evening celebrated their marriage union on the beach at sunset.

Sand Pebble Resort Treasure Island Florida Family Kids Beach Portraits at Sunset

I love it when local Tampa Bay area families book us to photograph their family portrait sessions at one of our amazingly beautiful gulf beaches! This sweet family was able to schedule a mini getaway for a couple of fun days staying at Sand Pebble Resort in Treasure Island Florida. By now, I know to keep active boys busy moving around and enjoying the sand and surf during our family portrait sessions!
