Downtown Saint Petersburg offers a variety of outdoor locations for portrait sessions and one of my favorites is the Salvador Dali Museum and Mahaffey Theatre exteriors. For this high school senior session we started along the corridors of the Mahaffey which offers a fun perspective line of columns, crisp concrete lines and natural greenery. Then we strolled over towards the highly reflective exterior of the Dali Museum’s enigma dome, which offers a blue glass reflection of the palm trees along the approach to the museum. At senior sessions I typically suggest three outfits to add variety. To end the session we strolled along the Tampa Bay waterfront of South Yacht Basin.

When clients staying on Anna Maria Island Florida contact me for portraits, I always suggest Bean Point Beach for a location. I love the magical dunes filled with sea oates and sea grape. The clouds rolled in for this senior portrait session, and at sunset we were rewarded with a magical sun burst!

Wow! After a fun tandem bicycle themed engagement session, these two planned a fun relaxed beach wedding for close to 200 guests. Their wedding weekend celebration started with a wedding rehearsal dinner with close family and bridal party outside under a tiki hut at the Postcard Inn overlooking St Pete Beach Florida. The wedding rehearsal celebration continued after sunset onto the beach with a bonfire where all guests of the wedding were invited.
The next day we arrived at Sunset Beach House in Treasure Island Beach Florida, a private home the bride and groom rented to host some of their guests and also as the location for their wedding ceremony. We captured the getting ready portraits and then prepared for the couples first look.
This is why you do a first look on your wedding day! Look at the emotions between these two: they were so excited to see each other. The lovely aspect of scheduling a first look before your wedding ceremony is that you are able to schedule some intimate moments together on your wedding day. We captured the family portraits, bridal party portraits and moments with the bride and groom before the guests started arriving for the ceremony at Sunset Beach House Treasure Island.
Sunset Beach House provided nice tree shade for our late afternoon pre ceremony portraits. At this time of day, the sand on the beach can be blinding and the beach grasses and trees add interest to the bride and groom’s portraits.
The wedding celebration continued at Mad Beach Brewing Company in Maderia Beach Florida at John’s Pass. Guests were treated to amazing craft beers, sangrias and an amazing dinner buffet. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed and the guests loved the Brewery. The couple skipped a wedding cake and had Mad Beach Brewery serve their signature desserts. The bride and groom hired the band All the Answers to play all night long and they performed all night long!

Our clients hosted their Florida destination beach wedding on Anna Maria Island at the Sandbar Restaurant. Their spring wedding day was absolutely beautiful with amazing cloud cover and perfect warm (but not hot!) Florida weather. The Bride and her ladies prepped at Sunrise Garden Resort Anna Maria Island and the shaded gardens provided a perfect backdrop for the detail shots and also for the ladies portraits. The Groom and his groomsmen dressed at Palm Tree Villas Anna Maria Island which also offered a nice garden setting for the groom’s details photos and fun portraits of the gentlemen showing off their LOUD socks!
This was my first time photographing a wedding at the Sandbar Restaurant and I was impressed. The beach setting was perfect for this destination wedding, and offered nice water vistas and great food. I will be back to visit the restaurant when I want to eat directly on the gulf (which is becoming a rare restaurant experience with waterfront real estate prices on the rise!)

Don Cesar Hotel Wedding St Pete Beach Florida Kym & Michael. I’m so excited to share this beautiful wedding weekend at the Loews Don Cesar Hotel in St Pete Beach. The bride and groom live in North Florida, so this destination wedding at the Pink Palace became a great weekend celebration with friends and family. I met up with the couple and their family members before the wedding ceremony rehearsal, and the bride surprised the groom with a delicious dessert food truck for everyone to enjoy! I love being able to photograph my couples before their wedding day, especially at the Pink Palace.

We had a blast with the Instagramers St Pete Crew exploring Fancy Farms in Plant City. Fancy Farms, along the Florida Strawberry Growers Association hosted us for an afternoon of exploring their beautiful and delicious strawberry fields in Plant City. Ana especially liked picking the berries, as they were right at her level and so fun to pick! It was so fun to hear her yell, “Strawberry” over and over as she strolled the rows of strawberry plants. I really enjoyed watching and photographing our family at Fancy Farms; I think fruit picking is a great activity for a family portrait session. Little kids need something to do at portrait sessions!
Afterwards we enjoyed a nice southern style dinner with some of our IgersStPete friends at Fred’s Market in Plant City. I was blown away by how delicious the food was at Fred’s Market; we will be definitely be coming back to one of their 4 locations to enjoy another yummy meal! Sorry no photos at Fred’s Market, I was too busy stuffing myself with their black eyed peas, sweet potatoes, ribs and red velvet cake.
I pretty much was obsessed with the golden hour sunlight as it filtered through these beautiful Oak trees with Spanish moss at Fancy Farms.
Our friend Beth was a GREAT model for this fun shot!!!

Wow! We had a blast photographing this destination wedding at Sunset Vistas Beachfront Suites in Treasure Island Florida, even with a few raindrops. Bad weather can help create some amazing photos. When the skies opened up with a rainstorm late in the afternoon for this Florida Beach wedding, the staff at Sunset Vistas quickly relocated this couple’s ceremony location to under cover in the courtyard. When the rain slowed up, we were able to photograph the couple with their guests in the beautiful tropical courtyard at Sunset Vistas. When we were certain the rain and lighting had paused, we raced to the beach at sunset for some dramatic portraits of the happy couple. The rain created some beach puddles, which we used to our advantage in capturing some dramatic beach reflection portraits. At first the cloudy skies photographed as a beautiful intense blue, and about 20 minutes after sunset we were treated to soft pink skies! We have learned time and time again to keep photographing after sunset at the beach, because the skies can develop with gorgeous colors, even on a rainy day!

Scott and I are looking forward to photographing our clients wedding this spring and thoroughly enjoyed capturing their fun couples engagement portrait session in Downtown St Petersburg Florida with the best prop ever; their vintage red tandem bicycle! We took advantage of some beautiful afternoon natural light at Sawgrass Lake Park St Pete with large oak trees where they could easily ride their red bike, energized by their custom boom box! And yes, the whitewalls really made the bike POP in these engagement photos!
Closer to sunset we went to Northshore Park near the Vinoy Hotel St Petersburg for some amazing Soft tampa Bay sunset shots with the bike. We mixed natural light with some strobed portraits to create a great gallery of looks for this fun session. Our clients truly had fun and brought some amazing expressions to these images. We are beyond excited to capture their upcoming spring beach wedding weekend in St Pete Beach, Treasure Island and Madeira Beach.
