After taking a break from blogging our portrait over the holidays, I’m happy to showcase this winter Florida beach portrait session in Treasure Island. We have experienced a mild winter, with Christmas Day and New Years reaching 80 degrees F. For this family portrait session, the skies were a overcast which created a nice minimalist background in shades of grays and blues. Even though Florida is known as the Sunshine State, as a photographer I can appreciate good cloud covered natural light. As the session progressed towards sunset, we added fill light to these portraits from 2 SaberStrips connected to a boom stand with super clamps. I really like when we add a little bit of fill light and keep our ambient bright with not too dramatic of a lighting ratio.

Sunset in Treasure Island Beach Florida Family + Kid + Baby Photos

This little guy is beyond cute and we had a blast capturing his family in Treasure Island for a sunset beach portrait session. Our daughter and this little boy are about the same age; both have sweet brown eyes and golden blond hair. I just wanted to squeeze him the whole time! The best part was we were able to capture one of his first trips to the beach (other than as a tiny infant) and watch him enjoy exploring the sand, water and waves. The evening was gorgeous, the natural lights was soft and pretty, and the sunset was breathtaking.

Treasure Island Beach Club Florida Family Portraits wearing Vineyard Vines and Soft Blues

My clients vacationed at the Treasure Island Beach Club and hired us to photograph their adorable family for a sunset beach session. I absolutely love how the little boy and dad wore Vineyard Vines polos and the baby wore the cutest whale stripe outfit! The blues and khakis this family wore are classic colors for the beach and really compliment their blue eyes.

Between the Raindrops In Treasure Island Beach Family Portrait Session

My clients braved the iffy weather for their portrait session in Treasure Island and I think the results are amazing. We began photographing their session in the natural grasses and palms of Treasure Island beach in beautiful cloud filtered natural sunlight. The clouds in the sky are dramatic and for good reason: a 15 minute rain storm was about to begin!

We quickly ran for cover at one of the condos facing the beach and decided to wait out the storm instead of rescheduling. After the rain, the skies were amazing; dramatic clouds with the sun peeking thru in soft pastels. Bad weather can make for great photos! Plus the beach was practically empty after the rainstorm.

It is always a huge compliment when a fellow photographer hires you to photograph her family! Cassandra from A Single Image Photography and her family came over to our gulf beaches from Central Florida for a Mother’s Day weekend family beach session in Treasure Island. I really love the colors they chose to wear; they look amazing with that evening’s sunset sky colors!

Residence Inn by Marriott Treasure Island St Pete Beach Family Portrait Photos

Our clients gathered their extended family for a vacation at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Treasure Island beach for a vacation and we were able to capture them enjoying the gulf waters in Treasure Island. The newest member to this family was adorably outfitted with Pink Toms’s and I could not resist photographing her cuteness! The weather was overcast, but we were able to have some nice light blue clouds with a little bit of pink for some pre-sunset photos. The ever-changing weather patterns make for unique photos every time we photograph portraits at the beach; never the same look twice!
