The Tampa Bay and Central Florida region experience an unusual cold front this summer, which unfortunately caused about 10 days of steady rain showers and storms. It also coincided with my two busiest weeks for portrait sessions this summer! Families visit our Florida gulf beaches in late July and early August for some nice beach time before back to school time for the kids.
My client Aloha Kelly is a talented photographer in the St Louis area and hired us to photograph her family and her husband’s extended family who were vacationing in Treasure Island for the week. We rescheduled twice before we hit a fairly clear evening for their sunset beach portrait session. Third times the charm! I’m beyond thankful that we were able to capture these wonderful moments…while editing these photos this week their family experienced a terrible loss. Our thoughts, prayers, and love are with her family at this time. Moments like this remind me of how much of an honor it is to capture images like these for our clients.

St Pete Beach Treasure Island Family Kids Photos at Sunset

My clients traveled from the Orlando area for an evening of sunset beach portraits in Treasure Island St Pete. Treasure Island and surrounding central Florida was experiencing some rainy weather but we were able to photograph their session with nice overcast light and intense blue clouds for the strobist sunset shots. This session reminds me once again how much I love my nikon 85mm 1.8D lens: sharp eyes, smooth skin tones and beautiful out of focus backgrounds. In my opinion it is the perfect versatile portrait lens and I use it far more than my 70-200mm as it allows an intimacy with my clients.

Sunset In Treasure Island Florida Family Beach Portraits in Coral, White and Navy

Summer has arrived in Treasure Island and St Pete Beach Florida and the sunsets can be amazing this time of year. Our clients were two families vacationing together and they hires us to capture some great beach portraits. The summer rain created some nice overcast skies and for the actual sunset the clouds helped create some unbelievable colors in the sky! I really like how their outfits pop from the sand and grasses, and later at sunset the Corals, Whites and Pinks they wore coordinated beautifully with the sunset skies.

Bue Skies in Treasure Island Beach Couples Portraits Session

My clients mets us on a beautiful evening in Treasure Island for some amazing blue skies and gorgeous clouds, which later developed into a nice sunset. It is nice at couples sessions to capture nice individual portraits of my clients as well. The dunes and grasses in Treasure Island are amazing right now; everything is green!

Bilmar Beach Resort Family Portraits

My clients were spending a week at Bilmar Beach Resort from Canada and found some of my images from a previous Treasure Island family portrait session on Instagram. I usually suggest to clients that we schedule photos early in their vacation, just in case we have rain and need to reschedule. It was an overcast and rainy day for their original portrait session date and we were able to reschedule their session for a beautiful blue sky day!

We found this amazing section of beach with a nice shallow area of water to help create these sunset reflections.
The youngest boy was not a fan of the gulf waters and needed to be held during these family sunset portraits. I convinced him that watching photos and videos of my daughter on my iPhone was entertaining while Scott quickly captured this amazing shot of his parents. We love photographing well past the actual sunset and this image showcases how beautiful the sky can sometimes be 20 minutes past sunset.

Family Beach Portrait Photo Albums Custom Designed by St Pete Florida Photographer Kristen Sloan

One of my favorite aspects of being a portrait and wedding photographer is presenting to the client a custom photo album. With every portrait session I include a 6×6 square mini album which is printed on Kodak Endura Professional paper. This album features some of my favorite images from the client’s portrait session printed in seamless 6×12 spreads.
Today I am mailing three Treasure Island, St Pete Beach Portrait Sessions which we recently photographed. Additional exact copies of the album make great gifts, especially around the holidays. In this modern age of digital photography, I feel it is very important to print photographs and these books are a great way for my clients to share their Kristen Sloan Photography Portrait Session images with family and friends. This modern photo album is the perfect size to throw into a purse or bag.
I personally custom design the photo layout for each album to match the look and feel of the portrait session. The Kodak Endura Photographic Paper used in printing these mini albums is the same photo paper which I offer my client’s in their online portrait photo galleries.

Bilmar Beach Resort Family Portraits at Treasure Island Beach Florida

Many of our clients select Treasure Island FL for their Florida beach vacation. We love photographing portrait sessions on this wide stretch of beach for all of the natural grasses, palm trees and dunes.This family chose to stay at Bilmar Beach Resort , situated directly on Treasure Island beach.
Their youngest girl was interested more in playing in the sand, rather than posing for photos, so Scott and I found ways for the kids to relax and enjoy the beach while we photographed them. Asking a toddler to participate in family photos can be stressful, so I prefer to let them play and capture candids of these beach moments.
The overcast skies produced a surprise vivid sunset!
