It can be tough convincing families to wake up before sunrise to meet me on the beach for a portrait session. But early morning sessions can be just as lovely as a sunset session. This morning Treasure Island family session at Sunset Vistas Beachfront Suites proves that early morning light is beautiful and worth the effort of gathering up the troops. My clients just had to walk out onto the beach to meet me for this session; Sunset Vistas is conveniently located within steps of my favorite beach areas in Treasure Island. And afterwards you can always go out for pancakes!
Clients sometimes ask me what to wear to a family beach portrait session as it can be difficult trying to coordinate clothing for a large family when everyone is traveling to meet from all over the country (and world) in this case! I love the turquoise blues and greens that this family selected, as the water and sky compliment their attire. My Pinterest board on this topic offers some inspiration.

Don Cesar Hotel St Pete Beach Florida Family Sunset Portrait Photos

My clients hired us to photograph their family at the Don Cesar Hotel in St Pete Beach during the Fourth of July holiday week. That week gave us beautiful weather, amazing sunsets and beach portrait sessions almost every night that week! My clients boys were at the age where for two of them, posing for the camera isn’t exactly fun. In these circumstances, I give the kids some active direction to help them enjoy an evening at the beach. At then end of the session, the boys were so sweet in thanking us for a great evening! I love this section of St Pete Beach because it offers lovely views of the Don Cesar Hotel, and looking south at Pass A Grille Beach.

Tradewinds Island Grand Resort Sunset Family Portraits in St Pete Beach Florida

May was the month of adorable toddlers and babies and this little girl was so sweet! We had a great time photographing this adorable family at Tradewinds Island Grand Resort and the Guy Harvey Outpost over Memorial Day weekend. She was the sweetest little girl; almost walking, with the warmest smile! We had fun meandering around the beach areas of both resorts and the sunset was beautiful. The icing on the cake at this family beach session was a nice fireworks display presented by Tradewinds Resort in celebration of the holiday. A grande finale that was a pleasant surprise.

Sunset Vistas Treasure Island Florida Family Beach Portraits in Navy and Pink

My clients traveled to Sunset Vistas in Treasure Island Florida for a fun week in the sun. Many of our clients stay at Sunset Vistas Beachfront Suites and the location could not be any closer to some of our favorite locations in Treasure Island for beach portraits. Their daughter was simply adorable in her navy and white stripe dress with pink bow and I love how Mom’s attire matches her daughter and Dad’s attire of pale blue and khaki coordinates well without matching exactly. Navy has been a popular color for family sessions this year and I really like it! Stripes also work well at the beach; they make a fun visual element in the photos.

Alden Beach Resort St Pete Beach Family Portrait Photos

My clients have been visiting the St Pete Beach area for a number of years and their favorite place to stay is at Alden Beach Resort. Tucked between Tradewinds Grand Island Resort and Tradewinds Guy Harvey Outpost, Alden Suites offers kitchenettes, separate living rooms and bedroom and great views: all without a resort fee.

Next to the beach at Alden Beach Resort is a great lawn with a wall of seagrape which provided a great place for the kids to play during their stay and provided a nice shaded area for us to start photographing this adorable family. I really love the pop of green against their navy, white and light tan outfits.

St Pete Beach Treasure Island FL Sunset Family Portraits

My clients were vacationing at the Sirata Beach Resort in early August and contacted me to photograph a sunset family portrait. The Sirata Beach Resort and Conference Center is located in St. Pete Beach, the Sunset Capital of Florida.
For their sunset beach portrait session location, I selected the Treasure Island St Pete Beach public access which features a wide beach with lots of seagrass dunes and proximity to the beach.
