The winters in Saint Petersburg, Florida still amaze me; cool nights with warm daytime temps. While we occasionally experience some cooler rainy days, not so for this Treasure Island Beach couples portrait session. My clients were visiting from Canada and enjoying a south Florida tour as they began their vacation in Miami and made their way to Saint Petersburg for a beautiful blue sky day. As the evening progressed, the gulf breezes rolled in, but the chill in the air was no where close to the snowy that evening in their hometown of Calgary.

Sometimes a trip to the beach is a required break from wedding editing. And photographing a model is a great time to create new images and experiment.
The sunny F16 rules applies to shooting in bright daylight, and as photographers we need to have some serious flash power to match or overpower daylight. I decided to bring my Visatec monolight to Fort DeSoto Beach in Saint Petersburg Florida to experiment with cross lighting the sun.
My model Andrea had the perfect dress for the setting and we decided to keep the shades on!
