Holly and Erik’s destination wedding weekend took place at her grandparent’s private ranch Hole in the Wall, outside of Kaycee Wyoming. Hole in the Wall Ranch is situated along Red Wall, Castle Rock peak at 5200 feet and the Powder River runs through the ranch. For over 30 years, Hole in the Wall Ranch has been the location of choice for their family reunions and hosting this wedding was a first for the ranch.
Cloud 9 event planners were the team responsible for coordinating this beautiful wedding. You can view their blog posts of this Wyoming ranch wedding rehearsal and wyoming ranch wedding. Art Silk and I photographed this amazing wedding.
The festivities began on Friday with a rehearsal at the ceremony site, followed by a tradtional Texas BBQ dinner. Many of the guests camped at the ranch in their RV’s. Guests were able to hike the red rock formations, trout fish at Sheep Creek, bass fish at Poker Creek, or mountain bike. Saturdays ceremony was situated in a field along Spring Creek. The bridesmaid and bride were delivered to the ceremony by a team of horses provided by Powder River Percherons from Kaycee, Wyoming.

I had the pleasure of photographing Delila on a beautiful breezy and sunny Florida winter day as part of the meet-up.com group, the Tampa Bay Strobists and Photoshop Collective. For my lighting, I used one SaberStrip, triggered by Radio Popper Jr’s and powered by my nikon SB-800 flash.

Downtown Denver offers a variety of venues for weddings and we were eager to photograph our bride and groom on a warm spring Saturday in April.
We started photographing Stephanie + Micah on a beautiful Saturday at the Hotel Teatro in “LoDo”, lower downtown Denver. Hotel Teatro occupies a building originally built in 1911 as the Denver Tramway Building. This site was the first location of the Evans Mansion, home of John Evans, Colorado’s second territorial governor. The Hotel Teatro’s elegant lobby includes the original pink and green marble. The proximity to the Performing Arts Complex was the inspiration for the name Teatro, which means theatre in Italian.
We brought the couple into the Restaurant Kevin Taylor for a quick interior and exterior photos.

Then we focused on the Denver Center for Performing Arts exterior walkways before entering the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. The Opera House lobby features a beautiful yellow Dale Chiluly chandelier, an amazing backdrop for Stephanie’s artistic bouquet by Babylon Floral.

Located in the Chambers Grant Salon in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Kevin Taylor’s at the Opera House serves pre-theater cocktails and dinner on evenings with performances in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Buell Theater and/or Boettcher Concert Hall. It is also available for private events and is a great space to host a wedding.
We photographed Stephanie and Micah at Kevin Taylor’s at the Opera House Restaurant, with some fun shots of the couple on the bar.
Throughout the day, we shot with our new SaberStrips, a light modifier that allows me to insert my Nikon flash. Beyond easy to carry and set-up at weddings.

Art Silk and I photographed Melissa and Randy’s wedding in Boulder, Colorado on location at the Colorado Chautauqua National Historic Landmark. Melissa’s getting ready portraits were taken in one of the cottages on the property, where many of their family and friends also conveniently stayed.
Randy and Melissa’s ceremony took place on the The Chautauqua Green; Located in front of the Dining Hall near the main entrance to Chautauqua, the Green is an open lawn with spectacular views of the flatirons. The Green is a city park, rented through the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department.
Fiori Flowers of Boulder Colorado created the gorgeous flowers for this wedding. As a lover of wedding details and punches of color, I could not stop myself from photographing the flowers!
The Chautauqua Dining Hall hosted the reception in a beautiful white tent with open sides, which allowed the guests views of Chautauqua Park and the Boulder Flatirions.

These wedding flowers from Arthur Williams of Babylon Floral (Denver, Colorado) are truly works of art! He is one of the most talented and creative floral designers I have worked with while photographing weddings.

Art Silk and I decided to shoot some strobist style portraits of ourselves in an industrial area north of downtown Denver. We shot our Nikon flashes off camera with triggers. During the shoot we used a silver reflector and a new light modifier called SaberStrip. This photo shoot was one of my first experiences with off camera flash and the initial results we obtained were amazing.
